Mildmay is a quaint and close-knit community of almost 1,200 people located in the municipality of South Bruce, in Bruce County. Known as the Lamplighter Village, Mildmay’s main street is decorated with old-style lamps and cobblestone sidewalks. Busy restaurants and unique shops – including the popular Mildmay Cheese Haus – attract residents and visitors alike into the downtown area.

Mildmay is a community with a strong farming background. The village’s residents come together every year for the very popular “Hanging of the Green” festival in November, when residents celebrate the holiday season in traditional German fashion. The evening includes a light night parade, free apple cider, a live nativity scene, sausages and Christmas carols.
Rotary Park is one of Mildmay’s most scenic spots. Situated on Highway 9 at the north end of the village, the park features an ever-flowing artesian well where visitors and community members can stop for fresh water, have a picnic or visit with the swans that live here. Otter Creek, which once provided power for the mills in Mildmay, flows through the park’s grounds alongside a two-kilometer hiking trail.

If you’re looking for a small-town feel among people who embrace their rural roots, then Mildmay is the place to be. With two elementary schools, a recreation complex and a community medical clinic, this village has all the amenities of a larger town.
